NEST Admission, Application Form, Syllabus, Exam Pattern: National Entrance Screeeing Test is a national level entrance test regulated by joint venture of National Institute of Science Education and Research and University of Mumbai. It is organized for admission into the five year integrated M.Sc. programme offered by NISER and UM-DAE CBS. The exam is conducted once in a year around 59 towns and cities all over India.

NEST Admission, Application Form, Syllabus, Exam Pattern: The National Entrance Screening Test is a compulsory test for admission to the five year integrated MSc programme in basic sciences – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics – at National Institute of Science Education and Research Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai –Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Science, Mumbai. These institutes have started with the mandate to provide good quality teaching in basic sciences by a faculty of distinguished scientist embedded in a vibrant research environment. The placements of the graduated students from NISER and CBS provide testimony of success to this initiative. The candidates who are admitted to five year integrated Msc progrmme at NISER and CBS are eligible to INSPIRE, Govt of India, scholarship of Rs. 5000 per month and Rs. 20,000 per year for carrying out summer projects.

NEST Application Form:
- The candidates can fill and submit the NEST 2017 application form only through online mode.
- The application form for this exam will not be available through offline mode.
- The candidates have to fill the application form with correct details and upload the scanned images along with.
- The filled application form will be submitted by online only.
- The application fee will be Rs. 700/- for male candidates of General/OBC and Rs. 300/- for SC/ST/PD and all female candidates.
- The fee payment can be done through debit/credit, net banking or through demand draft of any bank drawn on the favor of NISER-NEST and payable at Bhubaneswar.
If the candidates are paying through DD then the DD along with printed application form through speed post should be sent.
NEST Eligibility Criteria: The candidates born on or after 1st August 1997 for general and OBC candidates are eligible to apply. The relaxation to five years in age limit is given for SC, ST and PD candidates.
NEST Exam Pattern:
Sections: The examination paper will be divided into five sections. Each section carries 50 marks.
Subjects: General aptitude, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
Merit Calculation: Only three highest scored sections will considered for merit calculation.
Language: The mode of language is English.
Type: The question paper contains objective type questions
Negative Marking: Negative marking will be done for subjects section only
Pattern: The question paper will be asked in OMR Pattern
Marks: The question paper will contain total 200 marks.
NEST Syllabus: The NEST Syllabus will be followed by the pattern of CBSE/ NCERT science syllabus of class 11th and 12th. The syllabus consists of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics subjects. There is no fixed syllabus for general section. In general section the questions will be related to the major historical milestones in physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, astronomy, environment and computer science.
NEST Admit Card: The admit card will be available from the third week of April 2017. The admit card is compulsory to write the exam. The admit card will not be sent by post. The candidates must download the admit card from the official website only. The candidate should not forget to carry their admit card at the time of examination.
NEST Result 2017: The NEST 2017 Results will be released through the official portal of NEST. The result will be declared in the third week of June, 2017. The merit list will be prepared according to the marks scored in the written examination. For merit list preparation, score of general section along with scores of top three sections from the subjects will be considered. Students will be called for further admission process on the basis of ranks secured by the candidate in the rank list. The admissions will be done strictly on the basis of merit list till all seats are filled.
